For today, I wanted to share with you “Farafin’A“, a minimal deep bouncy trippy Afro Soul Funk Lo-Fi track with crazy Synth parts a la Onyeabor, taken from the sole & only album auto produced in the 80s by the Burkinabe composer & musician Kaboré Dieudonné Parfait, recorded & self-released in Paris (France) in the 80s.

Including the legendary Congolese musician Théo Blaise Kounkou, it also features :

Gilbert Guillaume : Rhythm Guitar ;

For today, I wanted to share with you “Come On Now Hou… Hou“, a killer Afro Jazz Funk Soul Fusion track with ultra cool Fender Rhodes & Horns parts, taken from a very obscure album recorded in the 1970s in Paris by the Cameroonian (presumed) musician Bada Damas and backed by his “Damas Swing” band, who composed together a fistful albums & singles.

Any additional infos about this artist/album would be greatly appreciated, so don’t hesitate !

For today, I wanted to share with you “Komba“, an instant catchy Afro Electronic Digital Soukous Funk track sung in Lingala (Congolese vernacular langage) with dope drum machines using, taken from the only album privately recorded in 1987 in Paris (France) by the mysterious composer & musician Charlston Marquis and that features legendary musical figures from Cameroon & Democratic Republic Of Congo (former Zaïre) such :

Vocals, Synthesizer, Percussion, Drum Programming, Arrangements : Charlston Marquis ;

Guitar : Boleta N’Zeza, Nya Soleil ;

To notice : this track has the same bass line as the track “Ennemi” by the Cameroonian composer Mister Bibi (listen here) recorded and released also in the 80s.. Just a musical coincidence ? Who’s inspired who ? We’ll never know !

For today, I wanted to share with with “Si En Tchéou“, a dope fresh Island Boogie Synth Zouk Funk Boogie Soul track, taken from the only album self-recorded & released in Paris (France) in 1986 by the short-lived band Puzzle Pulsion, founded by the French West Indians musicians “Groovy” (Patrick Valey) & “Tyjan” (Jean Arcon).

This album includes some of the best musicians of that era, such :

Abeti Masikini – Beya Beya

Abeti Masikini was one of the most famous Congolese singer, born on the 9 of October 1951 in Kisangani (Democratic Republic of Congo, former Zaire).

After being graduated of a secretary diploma, she integrated the Congolese Ministry of Culture and Arts in 1969.

She started to become known in 1970 thanks to a singing contest on the National Congolese TV, toured in 1971 in many African countries (Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Ghana, Niger..), in Europe (she performed in France in 1973 at the Olympia Concert Hall in Paris, in Belgium..) and also in the United States 1974 at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York.

She recorded her first album in 1973 and around 20 others and dozens of singles after that.

She died on the 28th of September 1994 in Paris.

The song presented here, “Beya Beya“, is a splendid deep and melancholic Afro psych fusion track taken from the live album that was recorded on the 7 and 8 of April 1975 at the Olympia Concert Hall in Paris – Enjoy !
