For today, I wanted to share with you “Ewo Fiessou“, a beautiful deep Afro Latin Soul Jazz track from Ivory Coast with sweet Calypso & Highlife flavors, taken from an early single recorded at the end of the 60s/early 70s by the Ivorian band “Orchestre De Bouaké” on the legendary record label “Safie Deen“,

This orchestra was originally founded by Djibo Sounkalo (former mayor of the city of Bouaké) in the 60s, composed by 12 talented musicians and leaded by the composer & musician Louis Pierre.

Following this previous article, I wanted to share with you “Massane Cisse“, one of the numberless version of this all-time Senegalese standard, interpreted here in a really deep psychedelic Afro Folk Soul Fusion version with Afro Latin flavors by the legendary “Star Band De Dakar” orchestra, including some of the best Senegalese musicians of that era such as Cheikh Tidiane Tall & Idrissa “Idy” Diop (previous members of “Le Sahel” Band)

The version presented here is my favorite by far, hope you’ll like it too – Enjoy !

Etoile de Dakar – Hombre Mysteriosoy

Following this previous article, I would like to share with you for today “Hombre Mysteriously”, a killer uplifting Afro Latin Soul Salsa Fusion Mbalax Jazz track, recorded in 1978 by the legendary Senegalese Orchestra “Etoile de Dakar” that included great names as the mythical musician & composer Youssou Madjiguène Ndour (this album was his first ever credited appearance as a singer !).

This track was originally composed by the Dominican musician Cuco Valoy and his brother Martin as “Los Ahijados“.

This album, as many of the greatest early Senegalese ones (such as Orchestra Baobab ones), was recorded at the well-known Jandeer Night Club in Dakar(Senegal), one of the only few places musicians could lent at the times all the musical instruments & equipments they didn’t have themselves – Enjoy !

Following this previous post, I wanted to share with you for today “Wayisjelequeyele“, an outstanding Afro Mandingo Blues Soul track with killer syncopated horns, taken from the 2nd album of the legendary Burkinabe composer & musician Amadou Traoré dit Balaké, former member of “African“, the legendary Afro Latin band African from West Africa.

Recorded in Ibadan (Nigeria) and out on the mythical West African record label “Sacodis” based in Ivory Coast, this magical would blow your mind far away – Enjoy !

For today, I wanted to share with you “Come On Now Hou… Hou“, a killer Afro Jazz Funk Soul Fusion track with ultra cool Fender Rhodes & Horns parts, taken from a very obscure album recorded in the 1970s in Paris by the Cameroonian (presumed) musician Bada Damas and backed by his “Damas Swing” band, who composed together a fistful albums & singles.

Any additional infos about this artist/album would be greatly appreciated, so don’t hesitate !

Following this former article, I wanted to share with you for today “Caridad“, an incredible beautiful Afro Latin Mbalax Soul track, taken from the only album by “L’Orchestre Du Sahel“, house band of the night club “Le Sahel” in Dakar (Senegal) owned by the businessman Ndiouga Kobe and founded in 1972 by the composer and musician Cheikh Tidiane Tall.

Open to various musical styles, le Sahel offered a music mixing African sounds (Mbalax, Pulaar Fulani music, Mandingo music), and included legendary Senegalese musicians, former members of the mythical band “Xalam” founded in 1965 by Sakhir Thiam, such :

– Cheikh Tidiane Tall (Bandleader, Guitar, Organ) ;

– Willy Sakho (Bass) ;

– Alassane N’Doye (Congas) ;

– Diguy Diabate (Drums) ;

– Thierno Koité (Flute, Saxophone) ;

– Seydina Insa Wade (Guitar) ;

– Emmanuel Batta (Trombone) ;

– Jean N’Diaye (Trumpet) ;

For today, I wanted to share with you “Je Vous Remercie” (“I thank you”), a splendid Afro Soul Acoustic Folk track driven by beautiful guitar parts and with Latin flavors, taken from the first album recorded in 1976 by the Beninese guitarist & composer Gustave Gbenou “G.G.” Vikey on “Riviera Afrique“, the legendary African focused sub-label of “Riviera“, the well-known French record label owned by the mythical composer & musician Gilles Sala.

Following this previous post, I wanted to share with you for today “Ven Y Ven Y Ven“, a timeless standard of the latin musical repertoire initially recorded in 1965 by the composer Johnny Pacheco (Dominican Republic), and covered here in a killer sweet top notch Afro Latin Salsa version, recorded in the 70s by the Congolese (former Zaïre) composer & singer Michel Boyibanda and backed by the mythical orchestra “OK Jazz” founded by the legendary François “Franco” Luambo Makiadi.
