For today, I wanted to share with you “Sabina El Kwamy“, a magnificent melancholic Congolese Afro Latin Bolero Jazz Slow track, recorded in the early 70s by the legendary Congolese musician François “Franco” Luambo Makiadi and his mythical band OK Jazz, and issued in 1964 on the present compilation.

The OK Jazz Orchestra was comprised at that time by :

Guitar & lead vocals : François “Franco” Luambo Makiadi ;

Vocals : Joseph “Mujos” Mulamba & Jean “Kwami” Munsi ;

Rhythm Guitar : Lutumba “Simarro” Ndomanueno ;

Bass : Tshiamala “Piccolo” ;

Saxophone : Isaac Musekiwa (tenor) & Albino Kalombo (alto) ;

Drums (Tumba) : Bosuma “Dessoir”.

Franco et L’Orchestre TP OK Jazz – Kinsiona (Democratic Republic of the Congo / Former Zaïre, 1974, African)

Following to that former post, I wanted to share with you for today “Kinsiona“, a splendid melancholic Afro Soul Jazz Blues track recorded in 1974 by the legendary Congolese musician François “Franco” Luambo Makiadi and backed by his legendary “TP Ok Jazz” Orchestra – Enjoy !

This song was composed by Franco in memory of his young brother Bavon Marie Marie Luambo, died the 5 of August 1970 at the age of 26 in a car accident in the city of Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo).

Samba Mascott – Mwana Angola (Congo, 1976, Sonafric)

Joseph Samba “Mascott” Mayanguila was a Congolese singer, born the 15 of August 1943 in the country of Loumou (Republic of Congo).

He played in several famous national orchestras such as “Les Bantous de la Capitale” (former musicians from Orchestre TP OK Jazz and Orchestre Rock-a-Mambo) or “Orchestre National du Congo” (read this article for more informations), and also released a few singles and albums by himself.
He died the 10 of April 1991 in Brazzaville, at the age of 48.
I selected for you “Mwana Angola”, a deep acoustic track track he released in 1976 on a Congolese compilation destinate to promote the Samay record Edition.

As a little Xmas present, here comes the last brand new selection of the year 2012 of some Afro Jerk / Afrobeat and Soukouss tracks from Congo (Zaïre) through some different orchestras and bands (Orchestre Veve, Orchestre Veve Star, Orchestre Cobantou, Orchestre Kiam) leaded by the great Georges Kiamwangana Mateta aka “Dynamite Verckys”,a legendary Congolese musician that began his carrer at the end of the 60’s – Enjoy !!
