For today, I wanted to share with you “Shabi-bi-di-do“, a bouncy summer Afro Highlife Boogie Funk track with Afrobeat flavors, taken from one of the three albums recorded by the Ghanaian Band “The Dutch Benglos” led by Gloria Aba Addison and that included legendary Ghanaian musicians from Dutch, Germany & Ghana such as the saxophone player George Amissah, the trumpetist Louis Hammond & the drummer Joseph Ghansah – Enjoy !

Obiba Collins Marfo was an artist from Ghana that played in the famous Vis-a-Vis band, who backed Alhaji Kwesi Frimpong on several albums and who recorded a few albums himself.

Owuo Yi“, the track I decided to present you today, is taken from his first album and is a 16min long pure Ghanaian joyful jewel, in the same vein of Alhaji K Frimpong or Ebo Taylor best songs – Enjoy !

De Frank Junior and the Professional Diggit Ways – Dankasa (Ghana, 1978, Societe Ivoirienne du Disque)

De Frank Kakrah was a musician from Ghana who played with several bands in the 70s, such as K. Frimpong Cubano Fiestas, The Barbecues, Okukuseku’s No.2 Guitar Band, Samdan’s 8 and his own band, De Frank Professionals.

He recorded several albums, including the one presented here “Jamaican Sounds“, recorded in Ivory Coast when he was employed as a band musician at the “Enuh Hotel”.

De Frank Junior and the Professional Diggit Ways were composed of :

De Frank Junior : Drums, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Vocals, Vocal Barking, Congas, Marracas.

Riky Ammed : Organ Synthesizer.

Joe Amanor : Lead Guitar.

Sammy Cropper Lee : Bass.

I decided to make you (re)discover “Dankasa”, a nervous Afrobeat track sung in English with catchy organ and guitar gimmicks – Enjoy !
