For today, I wanted to share with you “Yo Te Di Moin“, a sublime catchy Caribbean Gwoka Belè Biguine Jazz from Martinique (French West Indies) with gorgeous piano & flute parts, taken from the 1st album of the band “Enco-Ti-Tac” (that could be translated by “more” in Creole language) recorded in 1983 and out on the French West Indian label “Touloulou“.

The band was leaded by Robert “Bob” Medas, and featured :

Robert Medas : Drums, Vocals, Producer ;

Eddy Marc : Flute, Vocals, Drum (Tambour) ;

Tony Lemony : Drums (Tambour, Ti Bois), Vocals ;

Georgy Bourdy, Patrick Sorrente : Drums (Tambour), Vocals ;

José Lancry (who also designed the album cover !) : Piano ;

Jean-Michel Edouard : Chak’chas, Vocals ;

Vocals : Gina Bourdy ;

Fred Claire : Bass ;

Highly recommended & now hard to find album as the three ones of the band, hope you’ll like it – Enjoy !

For today, I wanted to share with you “Chen’n La“, a gorgeous spiritual Bèlè Gwo Ka Jazz Soul track from Guadeloupe (French West Indies) with magnificent Flute & Synth parts, taken from the only self-released single of the Guadeloupean composer & musician Darius “DAO” Adélaïde recorded in 1984 in Paris (France) at the recording studio “Parisign”.

Alongside to Darius Adélaïde, this single features some of the bests Guadeloupean, Martinican & Parisian musicians of that Era, as :

Roger Raspail, Léon Leborgne : Drums (Boula) ;

Michel Alibo : Bass Guitar ;

Armand Acheron, Hengel Gaston : Percussion ;

Franck Simion : Calabash ;

André Adélaïde, Colin Serin, Eddy Dollin, Gabriel Courbera, Sha Rakotofiringa : Chorus ;

Matthew Russel : Flute ;

Fred Rovelas, Patrick Gros : Guitar ;

Harry Gatibelza : Piano ;

Patrick Ralichon : Synthesizer ;

In the same vein as the best West Indian Bèlè & Gwo-ka Jazz compositions (Belenou,  Gwakasonne, Fabriano Fuzion, …), hope you’ll like it – Enjoy !
