Following this former article, I wanted to share with you for today “Fatou“, an Afro Cuban Latin Jazz Soul masterpiece, initially recorded in the 70s by the legendary Guinean singer Amara Touré on the mythical record label Sonafric, re-interprated in 1984 in a gorgeous alternate superior version by Amara & the Gabonese band “Orchestre Massako” with sublime saxophone & piano parts (the version presented in this article), during the few years he spent in Libreville (Gabon) – Enjoy !

Henri Guedon Et Les Contesta – Bilongo (Martinique, 1972, Aux Ondes)

Following this former post, I wanted to share with you for today « Bilongo », an outstanding Tropical Guaguanco Salsa Latin track from the French West Indies (Martinique), taken from the first album of the legendary musician, painter, sculptor and ceramist Henri Guedon, considered as the grandfather of modern music from French Antilles, and backed by his band « La Contesta ».

This record came out in 1972 on the record label « Aux Ondes », subdivision of the mythical West Indian record company « Celini Disques » – Enjoy !

Orchestre Du Jardin De Guinée – Sakhodou (Guinée Conakry, 1967, Editions Syliphone Conakry)

For today, I wanted to share with you “Sakhodou“, a mind-blowing melancholic Afro Manding Latin Funk Jazz track with 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐧 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐬, recorded in 1967 by the national 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐧 (𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐫𝐲) band “𝐎𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐮 𝐉𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐞 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞́𝐞”, one of the earliest releases of the mythical record label “𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐒𝐲𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐤𝐫𝐲” that included legendary musicians such as 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐚.

The group will later take the name of “𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐄𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐬” under the direction of 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐎𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐢), but that’s another story – Enjoy !

Orchestre Bembeya Jazz National – Ne Fais Pas De Sacrifice (Guinea Conakry, 1978, Areito)

For today, I wanted to share with you « Ne Fais Pas De Sacrifice », a deep breezing psychedelic Afro Funk Soul Manding Jazz track by the famous Guinean orchestra Bembeya Jazz National (formerly « Orchestre De Beyla », the area where its members come from), co-founded in the 1961 by Sekou Bembeya DiabateAboubacar Demba CamaraSékouba Bambino Diabaté amongst others.

This song is one of the hardest to find from the band, because it was only released in 1978 on the compilation presented here, recorded between Cuba & Guinea Conakry & only out localy in La havane at the time, to commemorate the historical musical friendship between those two countries – Enjoy !

For today, I wanted to share with you “Sabina El Kwamy“, a magnificent melancholic Congolese Afro Latin Bolero Jazz Slow track, recorded in the early 70s by the legendary Congolese musician François “Franco” Luambo Makiadi and his mythical band OK Jazz, and issued in 1964 on the present compilation.

The OK Jazz Orchestra was comprised at that time by :

Guitar & lead vocals : François “Franco” Luambo Makiadi ;

Vocals : Joseph “Mujos” Mulamba & Jean “Kwami” Munsi ;

Rhythm Guitar : Lutumba “Simarro” Ndomanueno ;

Bass : Tshiamala “Piccolo” ;

Saxophone : Isaac Musekiwa (tenor) & Albino Kalombo (alto) ;

Drums (Tumba) : Bosuma “Dessoir”.

Bentho Gustave Titiou & l’International Poly Rythmo – Agnon Djidjo (Tu As Bon Caractère) (Benin, 1978, L.I.R.)

For today, I wanted to share with you “Agnon Djidjo“, an atomic tropical Afro Latin Salsa Funk Cavacha dance floor stormer, taken from the only solo album recorded in 1978 by the legendary composer, guitarist and bass player Bentho Gustave “Titiou”, who began his career in the 60s with the beninese Band “Super Star de Ouidah“.

Shortly after, he founded the almighty “Poly Rhythmo de Cotonou” orchestra in 1968 (formerly “Sunny Blacks Band“) with other mythical musicians such as :

Melome Clement ;

Eskil Lohento ;

Amenoudji Joseph “Vicky” ;

Zoundegnon Bernard “Papillon” ;

Yehouessi Leopold ;

Pierre Loko.

who also all play on the album presented here – Enjoy !
