Djelimady Tounkara & Le Rail Band Du Mali – Djiguiya (Mali, 1970s, Disco Stock)

For today, I wanted to share with you “Djiguiya“, a storming West African 10min long Afrobeat Soul Funk track with killer horns, taken from the 2nd album of the Malian composer & musician Djelimady Tounkara (one of the foremost guitarists in Africa).

Produced by the Burkinabe musician Amadou Sanfo, this song was recorded in the 1970s (I think, all informations are welcome !), backed by the legendary “Orchestre Rail Band de Bamako” and by written by Sekou Kante (one of the former musician’s of that mythical band).

One of the most beautiful West African track of the genre and quite impossible to find nowadays, hope you’ll enjoy !

Ozobby Horn – Happy Joe (Nigeria, 1977, JBC)

Ozobby Horn was a very obscure band from Nigeria composed of three musicians that only released one and only very hard to find album, “Born To Move On”, before they totally disappear from the musical scene.

Among the 7 tracks that this LP contains , I decided to make you discover my favourite one, “Happy Joe”, a slow Afro Rock and Soul track with Fuzzy guitars and melancholic vocals – Enjoy !
