For today, I’d like to share with you “I Love Abidjan“, a bouncy Boogie Soul Funk track from Burkina Faso (west africa) with killer bass lines & guitar, taken from the 2nd album of the Burkinabe producer, composer, singer Moustapha Laabli Thiombiano, who used to be a really influent man in the West African media world (considered a pioneer of free radio in Africa, he is the founder of Horizon FM, TVZ and Miss Burkina radio stations).
This album – as the three he recorded – was released on “Afroc”, the record label he ran from Hollywood (USA, where he used to live in the 80s) in partnership with the legendary Ivorian label “Maïkano”.
It was recorded between Ivoary Coast (J.B.Z. recording studios in Abidjan) & the United States (Golden Sound & Backroom studios, Hollywood) and included great African & American musicians of that era, as :
Moustapha Laabli Thiombiano : Arrangements, Composition & Writings, Bass Guitar, Composition, Drums, Guitar, Liner Notes, Percussion, Vocals ;
Leila Thigpen, Sylvia St. James, Vida Veader : Vocals ;
Antoinette Konan, Chantal Taïba : Chorus ;
Lance Ong, Steve Campos : Keyboards ;
Gnanhoui Roger : Tenor Saxophone ;
Didier “Castro” Boko : Bass Guitar ;
Djeli Moussa Diawara : Kora ;
Tough to find album nowadays, always a nice track to wake your parties floor up – hope you’ll like it, enjoy !
