Troupe Gaston Hoareau – Mon Patrie Mon Boucé Manzé (La Reunion, 1976, P.C.R.)

The song presented here, “Mon Patrie Mon Boucé Manzé”, is a beautiful Deep and Raw Maloya track, a musical genre that mixes together traditionnal rhythms, Poetry and political Creole claims that was forbidden by the authorities in the island until 1981.

It that was one the first recordings from Daniel Hoareau (Or Danyèl Waro in Creole langage), one of the most famous musicians from La Reunion, who is still active nowadays, and it was recorded during the 4th congress of the Communist Political Party from Reunion Island in 1976 – Enjoy !

Alain Peters – Rest’ La Maloya (La Reunion, unreleased)

Following to this article about Alain Peters, the poet and musician from La Réunion island, I decided to share with you an alternate studio take of “Rest’ La Maloya”, one of my favourite song from him, slighty different and deeper than the one you should know !

Have a really nice week,

Ziskakan – Ral Si Ton Koukoune (1981, La Reunion, Editions Reunion Ocean Indien)

Let’s travel to the Reunion Island, with a song from Ziskakan, a band founded in 1979 by Gilbert Pounia.

This very prolific band has released several album through the years, and is still touring today.

I decided to make you discover “Ral Si Ton Koukoune”, a track taken from the first album of the band.

Alain Peters – Caloubadia

Alain Peters was a poet and a musician, born the 10 of March 1952 in the city of Saint Denis (La Reunion island).

Playing guitar since he was 13 years old, he truly began his musical career in the 70’s, playing rock and pop music in several bands in La Reunion, including Carroussel (you can go here for more informations on this band), but was particularly known through his contribution to the Maloya musical scene (a traditional musical genre from La Reunion, as the Sega style), which he was one of the most prominent figures and strongest supporter.

Accursed poet and misunderstood musician during his life, he died the 12 of July 1995 in the streets of Saint Paul (La Reunion island) of an heart disease, from drinking too much and singing misery.

He released one album and a few 7 inches.

Have a nice sunday,

Armand
