David Calvet et les Elus – Mea Katu (Congo, 1978, Pathé EMI)

Les Elus” was a Congolese band, lead by David Calvet M’Voutoucoulou, a guitarist who recorded 3 albums and who also played with the “Les Ombres de Brazzaville” and “Bayembi” in the early 70’s.
For today, I wanted to share with you “Mea Katu“, a nice Afro Latin Fusion track from Congo (Brazzaville), with fresh and fuzzy electric guitars – Enjoy !

Freddy et Le Ricco Jazz – Dark Night (Republic of Congo, 1973, Sonafric)

One of the few and early singles from the great Congolese composer Freddy Kebano, “Dark Night” was recorded with the “Ryco-Jazz” band (misspelled here as “Ricco Jazz”) that imported Congolese Rumba in the French Antilles in the late 60’s and that will greatly contribute to the evolution of Martinican music.

Hope you will like this early afro jerk track !
