For today, I wanted to share with you “Sebar“, a catchy powerful psychedelic Oriental Funk Rock Soul Jazz track with beautiful haunting voices, taken from the first album recorded in 1974 by “Les Freres Megri“, a Moroccan rock band formed in Oujda (Morocco), and arranged with the help of the French composers & musicians Jacques Hendrix & Eric Demarsan (Jean-Claude Beyer).

The band consisted of four members, popular session musicians, composers and producers : three brothers : Hassan, Mahmoud and Younes Megri, and their sister Jalila Megri – Enjoy !

For today, I wanted to share with you “Huloul” (“حلول” or “solution” in Arabic langage), a spellbinding Middle-Eastern Soul Jazz track with Brazilian influences a la Arthur Verocai & beautiful flute parts, taken from the first album of the Lebanese band “Ferkat Al Ard” (فرقة الأرض) leaded by the guitar player Issam Hajali (عصام الحاج علي) and composed with :

Issam Hajali (عصام الحاج علي) : Vocals, Guitar ;

Toufic Farroukh (توفيق فرّوخ) : Flute, Saxophone ;

Elie Saba (ايليا سابا) : Bouzouki, Oud ;

This album, arranged by the legendary Lebanese composer, musician & producer Ziad Rahbani (زياد الرحباني) & produced by the Lebanese-Armenian producer Khatchik Mardirian (co-founder with Ziad Rahbani of the mythical 70s Lebanese record label “Zida“) is considered by many as one of the hardest to find holygrail Lebanese vinyl record album ever out – Enjoy !

For today, I wanted to share “Gasba Touila Et Gallal“, a raw hypnotic & bouncy Algerian Rai Folk Jazz Blues track with dope Gallal (Algerian drums) & Gasba Touila (Algerian flute), taken from a very hard to find LP that was part of a boxset privately edited and promotionally distributed by the national Algerian Ministry of Culture (that was part the legendary Algerian composer & musician Ahmed Malek) intended to promote national folk recordings – Enjoy !

Fairuz – Al Bosta (Lebanon, 1979, Zida) فيروز – البوسطة (Lebanon, 1979, Zida)

Following to this former post I wanted to share with you for today “Al Bosta” (“البوسطة” for our Arabic speaking friends), a splendid Middle-Eastern Jazz Funk track recorded in 1979 by the legendary Lebanese Diva Fairuz (فيروز or “turquoise blue” in English), composed and arranged by her eldest son Ziad Rahbani (زياد الرحباني), also one of the greatest names of Lebanon’s musical history.

This song is taken from the mythical album “Wahdon“, recorded during the same session than Ziad Rahbani‘s Masterpiece “Abu Ali“.

 I found that long time wanted piece during my latest record digging trip in Lebanon (august 2021), so lucky I felt on that day.. hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I do !
