Jeancky – Protestation (Armand de Preseau Extended Edit) (Haiti, 1977, Troubadour Musical Productions)

For today, I wanted to share with you one of my favourite Haitian songs (French West Indies) and taken from the second album from the singer and guitarist Jeancky.

This song, “Protestation“, is a deep protest folk song sung in French and Creole, full of poetry, with awesome Guitar, Violins, Congas and Vibraphone parts. I decided to share with you an extended edit I did of the track, mixing vocal and instrumental parts, because this song was way too beautiful to be presented in a short way – Enjoy !

Tina – N’Goumbe (Gabon, 1976, Pathe-Marconi EMI)

Tina was a very obscure Gabonese singer who released an album and a single at the age of 18 years old in 1976, in the same vein of Myriam Makeba, Anne-Marie Nzie or Abeti.

I decided to make you discover “N’Goumbe“, a beautiful Folk track with melancholic guitar arrangements – Enjoy !

Dossia Dassaboute – Le Message (Benin, 1970, Disques Tropiques)

Composed in 1970 in one night only, “Le Message” is the first song from Dossia Pierre Dassaboute, one of my favourite Beninese musician, acoustic guitar player, politician and writter.

This song comes from one of the earlier records of the “Disques Tropiques” record label from Benin.

At the time, Dossia wrote this track for his ex girlfriend, “Aminata”, who was cheating on him.
This song became his most popular song, and Dossia released after that two albums, one in 2004 and another one in 2012.
