Noura (Fatima Zohra Badji) – Paris Dans Mon Sac (Algeria, 1965, Pathé)

For today, I wanted to share with you “Paris Dans Mon Sac“, an incredibly beautiful Soul Jazz ballad sung in French with Oriental flavors, recorded in 1965 by the Algerian singer & actress Fatima Zohra Badji (better known as “Noura”) on the French record label “Pathé“.

This song is backed by a beautiful orchestration by Larbi Zeggane (Kamal Hamadi on his artist’s name), a Kabyle Algerian songwriter and composer who was also Noura’s husband, and Roland Richard Vincent.

Bana – Eternidade (Cape Verde, 1966, Pathé)

For today, I wanted to share with you “Eternidade“, a splendid melancholic early Afro Soul Folk Jazz ballad driven by gorgeous clarinet parts, one of the very first recordings of the legendary Cape Verdean composer & musician Adriano Gonçalves (better known as “Bana“).

Initially recorded in Dakar (Sénégal) in 1962 with the backing of another Cape Verdean legend, the songwriter, arranger and clarinetist Luis Morais and his Orchestre Du Saloum, the song presented here today is taken from this Pan-African compilation out in 1966 in the mythical French record label “Pathé” with this very cute cover art – Enjoy !
