Following this former article, I wanted to share with you for today “Balade Dans La Foret D’Ajoupa“, an incredible bewitching Soul Jazz Folk track with deep percussions from Martinique (French West Indies), taken from the first LP from the legendary flutist & poet Max Cilla recorded in 1981 on the French label “Apia“.

Backing Max Cilla, this album features many mythical musicians :

Lord Cobra And Panafro – Colon Colon (Panama, 1979, Tamayo)

For today, I wanted to share with you “Colon Colon“, a gorgeous melancholic Tropical Latin Calypso Soul track with sweet Island Reggae flavors & bewitching guitar parts, recorded on the 30 of November 1970 by the mythical Panamanian producer, composer & musician Wilfred Methusiel Berry Gonin better known as “Lord Cobra“, one of the most important calypsonians, not only in Panama but throughout the Caribbean, standing out as a troubadour and as a composer.

Among dozens of pieces he composed, we can mention “Banana”, “The Man with the Big Suitcase” and the famous “Baptism”.

This track (my favorite from this artist by far !) was released on the mythical owned by the legendary producer Rodrigo De Jesús Escobar Tamayo – Hope you’ll like it, enjoy !

Fitz Vaughn Bryan And His Orchestra – Moonbeam Serenade (Trinidad & Tobago, 1958, Kay)

For today, I wanted to share with you “Moonbeam Serenade“, an astonishing uptempo Island Calypso Latin Soul Mambo track, one of the very first recordings (1958, maybe the 3rd one) of the legendary Trinidadian musician, composer, arranger Fitzroy Vaughan Bryan, leader of the band “Fitz Vaughan Bryan Orchestra” that he formed in 1955 and that was composed with :

Thibault “Freydy-Ahimsâ” Doressamy – O Fon A Kê An Nou (Guadeloupe, 1987, FREYDYANY D)

For today, I wanted to share with you “O Fon A Kê An Nou“, a gorgeous Island Synth Gwo-Ka Fusion Jazz Soul track, written in 1987 in Guadeloupe (French West Indies) by the Guadeloupean musician Thibault “Freydy-Ahimsâ” Doressamy.

The music on that record is composed by the legendary Guadeloupean composer Robert Oumaou (from the mythical band “Gwakasonne“), and backed by :

Klôd Kiavué : Vocals, Percussion ;

Jera Elice : Vocals, Percussion ;

Eddy Pitard : Saxophone, Flute, Guitar ;

Lambert Canneval : Percussion ;

Keyboards : Aurel Thams ;

Lowans : Bass, Percussion, Drums ;

Malavoi – Madjoumbé (Martinique, 1975, 3A Production)

For today, I wanted to share with you “Madjoumbé“, an uplifting Tropical Cadence Biguine Jazz Soul track from the French West Indies with Latin flavors, recorded in 1975 by the legendary band Malavoi, initially from the city of Fort-de-France (Martinique) but that will later includes musicians from Guadeloupe.

Still active today, the band is known for its strings sections (violin & cello), & was founded at the end of the 60s by Jean-Paul Soïme, Emmanuel “Mano” Cesaire, Christian de Negri, Denis Dantin & Marcel Rémion.

This LP features :

Jean-Marc Albicy (Bass Guitar) ;

André Saint-Prix (Congas) ;

Paul Rosine (Electric Piano : Fender Rhodes) ;

Bib Monville (Saxophone) ;

Paul Petit-Frere (Trombone, Trumpet) ;

Maurice Marie-Louise, Raphaël Rimbaud (Vocals) ;

The group was called “Malavoi” in reference to a variety of sugar cane and a street in the island of Goree (Senegal) from where African former slaves were sent to Americas at the time.

This album, out at the time on very small promotional quantities, features :
