Gary French & The Tropical Sextet – Lo Siento (Haiti, 1970s, A.H.A. Records)

For today, I wanted to share with you “Lo Siento“, an outstanding Guaracha Latin Soul Jazz track, taken from the second album recorded by the Haitian composer & musicien Gary French and his “Tropical Sextet” band, that included the following musicians :

Carlos Ramirez : Organ & Piano ;

Jean Thomas Donnay : Saxophone ;

Emmanuel “Manno” Mathieu : Bass ;

Michel Corvington : Guitar ;

Patrick “Pat” Coby : Percussions ;

Jacques Succes : Drummer ;

One of my favorite album from Haïti, full of many solid tracks of different musical genres – Enjoy !

For today, I wanted to share with you “Pays Femm“, an instant feel-good summer Island Disco Boogie Funk anthem, taken from the only album by the underground Haitian band “Mystik“, privately recorded & released in 1980 on their own record label “Espri Records & Tapes“.

For today, I wanted to share with you « Carnaval », a dope frantic uptempo Tropical Island Funk Compas with nervous guitar parts, recorded in 1973 by the mythical Haitian band “Les Gypsies de Petion-Ville” leaded by Robert Martino, and taken from an hard to find single that came at the time with « Patience 2 », the second album of the band – Enjoy !

For today, I wanted to share with you “Panno Kaye“, a dreamy West Indian spiritual Fusion Funk Soul Ambiant Synth track from Haiti (Ayiti, in the Antilles), taken from the only & invisible album from the obscure Haitian band U-Turn, recorded in 1988 in Brooklyn (United States), leaded by the musician & producer Alix Jacques, and composed by some of the former members of the country’s legendary historical musical formations such as Djet-X, Alix Jacques Colé Colé Band, Les Freres Dejean & Gary French & The Tropical Sextet – Enjoy !

For today, I wanted to share with you “Pa Gain Zanmi Enco“, an uptempo trippy Island Cadence Compas Soul Jazz, serious dance floor burner taken from the only album by the obscure Haitian duo Maud & Henri Pigniat “Ti Roi” out in 1979 on the local label JJ Records and backed by great Haitian musicians such as :

Almando Keslin, drummer in the Haitian band Zotobre, D.P. Express, Bossa Combo & Les Difficiles de Petion-Ville ;

Roger Laurent, bass & chorus singer in the Haitian band Scorpio ;

Claude Hesley, guitarist in the Haitian band Zotobre.
