Elie “Lili” Boniche – Ana Fi El Houb (Algeria, 1960s, Dounia) / ليلي بونيش – أنا في الحب

For today, I wanted to share with you “Ana Fi El Houb” (“أنا في الحب”) (“I’m in love“), a splendid & melancholic Oriental Arabic Latin Bolero Jazz track, cover of the all-time classic « Historia De Un Amor », recorded in 1955 by the Panamanian artist Carlos Almaran.

The version presented here was reinterprated in the early 60s by Elie “Lili” Boniche (ليلي بونيش), the legendary Algerian composer & singer of Andalusian-Arab music on the famous Parisian record label Dounia (دنياء) – Enjoy !

Akoha Ambroise – Zedaga (Part 1) (Benin, 1990s, Editions Satel)

For today, I wanted to share with you “Zedaga“, an obscure killer Electronic Afro Funk Boogie track with killer Synth & drum machines breaks, taken from an ultra rare LP localy recorded by the Beninese composer & musician Akoha Ambroise apparently in the early 90s, and that never had a proper commercial release, out only at the time as a test press in the early 90s – Enjoy !

Bella Bellow – O Se Nye (Togo, 1977, Sonafric)

For today, I wanted to share with you “O Se Nye“, a magnificent deep West African Soul track with gorgeous flute & killer breaks parts, taken from the only album of the Togolese Diva Bella Bellow, tragically died in a car accident near from Lome (Togo) the 10 of December 1973.

This album was released posthumously in 1977, first on the mythical record label Akueson (the first Parisian record label of that time run by an African guy, the Togolese producer & musician Gerard Akueson) & then more widely on the other legendary record label “Sonafric“, is an highly recommended one, full of great songs, including some arranged by the mythical Cameroonian musician Manu Dibango – Enjoy !

For today, I wanted to share with you « An Ba Bwa », a killer & catchy Dancefloor Caribbean Cosmic Digital Synth Zouk Funk Balearic track, recorded & privately released in the 80s in Guadeloupe (in the French West Indies) by the mysterious composer & musician Paul Noglotte, who only seems to have issue the double-sider presented here (any further informations are welcome !) with a gorgeous cover art !

This song was co-arranged by the legendary Guadeloupean composer Guy Jacquet, Zouk hero & former guitarist of the band « Les Vikings de la Guadeloupe » – Enjoy !

For today, I wanted to share with you “Fa-Mo“, an instant massive Dancefloor friendly Afro Disco Funk Soul track, taken from the 1st album of the Cameroonian composer & musician Jules Kamga recorded in France and backed by legendary musicians from Cameroon & the French West Indies such as Toto Guillaume, Aladji Touré, Jacob Desvarieux & Jean-Claude Naimro from the Guadeloupean band “Kassav“, thanks to the special musical connexion between those two countries during that era, that gaves birth to the best bass players of the 70s & 80s – Enjoy !

For today, I wanted to share with you “Huloul” (“حلول” or “solution” in Arabic langage), a spellbinding Middle-Eastern Soul Jazz track with Brazilian influences a la Arthur Verocai & beautiful flute parts, taken from the first album of the Lebanese band “Ferkat Al Ard” (فرقة الأرض) leaded by the guitar player Issam Hajali (عصام الحاج علي) and composed with :

Issam Hajali (عصام الحاج علي) : Vocals, Guitar ;

Toufic Farroukh (توفيق فرّوخ) : Flute, Saxophone ;

Elie Saba (ايليا سابا) : Bouzouki, Oud ;

This album, arranged by the legendary Lebanese composer, musician & producer Ziad Rahbani (زياد الرحباني) & produced by the Lebanese-Armenian producer Khatchik Mardirian (co-founder with Ziad Rahbani of the mythical 70s Lebanese record label “Zida“) is considered by many as one of the hardest to find holygrail Lebanese vinyl record album ever out – Enjoy !
