For today, I wanted to share with you “N’Fa“, a sublime melancholic Afro Folk Jazz Instrumental track with gorgeous acoustic guitar, recorded by the Guinean (Conakry) band “Les Freres Diabate” (the Diabate brothers), and released in 1972 only on this compilation, second volume of a series of seven, released each year by the legendary Guinean record label “Editions Syliphone Conakry” from 1970 to 1976 – Enjoy !

For today, I wanted to share “Gasba Touila Et Gallal“, a raw hypnotic & bouncy Algerian Rai Folk Jazz Blues track with dope Gallal (Algerian drums) & Gasba Touila (Algerian flute), taken from a very hard to find LP that was part of a boxset privately edited and promotionally distributed by the national Algerian Ministry of Culture (that was part the legendary Algerian composer & musician Ahmed Malek) intended to promote national folk recordings – Enjoy !

Patience Dabany – Ngabule (Gabon, 1985, Nkoussou Music)

Following to this former post, I wanted to share with you for today “Ngabule“, a catchy tropical dance floor friendly Afro Boogie Electro Funk with killer synth & horn parts, recorded in 1985 by the Congolese musician & composer Marie-Joséphine Kama “Patience Dabany” (Gabonese president Omar Bongo‘s former wife), leader of mythical Gabonese bands such as “Akebe II“, “Banowita” or “Kounabeli” and founder of the recording studios “Elumba 2” (LibrevilleGabon) and Mbila (Los AngelesUnited States).

This album was recorded between Gabon & the United States with the help of the legendary musician and arranger Fred WesleyJames Brown‘s former musical director – Enjoy !

Etoile de Dakar – Cely (Senegal, 1978, M. Diaw )

For today, I wanted to share with you “Cely“, a gorgeous Psychedelic Afro Latin Funk Psychedelic Mbalax Fusion Jazz gem with dreamy voices, catchy guitars & deep saxophone parts, first version ever of this all-time African anthem covered countless times, recorded in 1973 by the legendary Senegalese Orchestra “Etoile de Dakar” that included great names as the mythical musician & composer Youssou Madjiguène Ndour (this album was his first ever credited appearance as a singer !).

This album, as many of the greatest early Senegalese ones (such as Orchestra Baobab ones), was recorded at the well-known Jandeer Night Club in Dakar (Senegal), one of the only few places musicians could lent at the times all the musical instruments & equipments they didn’t have themselves – Enjoy !

Orchestre Veve Star – Bassala Hot (Part 1 & 2) (Democratic Republic of the Congo / Former Zaïre, 1975, Editions Veve)

For today, I wanted to share with you the 1st & 2nd part of “Bassala Hot“, a deep Afro Funk Soul track with killer saxophone parts, recorded by the mythical Congolese orchestra “Orchestre Veve” led by the legendary Georges Kiamuangana Mateta “Verckys” after he left the band Orchestre T.P. Ok Jazz.

This track, initially out as a 2 parts single in 1975, was compiled on a few local releases, including the one presented here with that ultra cool picture sleeve – Enjoy !

Dyo-With’s & Ferry Djimmy & his Dji-Kins – Love Love (Benin, 1972, Revolution Records)

For today, I wanted to share with you “Love Love“, mellow sweet Afro Soul Jazz track taken from an ultra hard to find single composed by the mysterious singer Dyo-With’s (that seems to only have released the one presented here), and backed by the legendary Beninese singer Ferry Djimmy, who released only one album (holy grail status !) and a few singles on his own private record label “Revolution Records” – Enjoy !

This song (and all Ferry Djimmy‘s discography, including his mythical LP !) has just been recently brilliantly compiled and reissued by the British label “Acid Jazz“, highly recommended purchase !
