For today, I wanted to share with you “Noura” (نوره), a deep bewitching Middle-Eastern psychedelic Folk Jazz Funk Belly dance track with killer arabic grooves & awesome violin parts, recorded in the early 60s by the Egyptian composer & accordion player Mohamed Asfour (محمد عصفور) & that reminds me the best compositions from the other Egyptian legendary musician Baligh Hamdi (بليغ حمدي)- Enjoy !

Kimbundu Music – Teka Dya Kingudi (Angola, 1984, Centre International des Civilisations Bantu)

For today, I wanted to share with you “Teka Dya Kingudi“, a breezing & amazing catchy deep Afro Folk track, field recorded by the legendary French musicologist Charles Duvelle the 2nd of may 1984 in Luanda (Angola) for the Centre International des Civilisations Bantu (CICIBA), sung in Kimbundu (Mbundu tribe’s langage) and played on a xylophone.

The instrument you can listen there is a “Madimba” (a mounted 20-key xylophone with calabash-gourd resonators).

Two musicians are involved here : Amindo da Fonseca plays in the upper register, and Joao Francisco plays in the lower register in this musical composition in which the instrumentalists are also the singers, and which is usually performed during funeral services.

For today, I wanted to share with you “Mamy Wata“, a catchy Afro Boogie Jazz Funk Synth track with Afrobeat flavors and killer horns, taken from the only album privately recorded and distributed in the 90s by the mysterious musician & composer Peter Bishop and his Afro Wave Orchestra.

This LP is an extremely hard to find masterpiece from start to finish that looks like a lost 90s recording from the Nigerian Legend Fela Kuti so.. Enjoy !
