Les Abranis – A Yema (Kabylie/Algeria, 1977, Disques Bordj El Phen)

Les Abranis was one of the very first Rock band from Algerian Kabylie and, more, one of the very first from Algeria.
 
The group was founded in 1967 by Sid Mohand Tahar, aka Karim “Abranis” Abdenour, singer and bassist, and was originally composed with :
– Karim “Abranis” Abdenour : Singer, Bass
– Samir Chabane – Singer
– Madi Mahdi : Guitar
– Shamy El Baz : Organ
In 1975,  Samir & Madi left the band to found “Syphax“, another legendary Algerian Kabyle band.
For today, I wanted to share with you “A Yema“, one of my favorite track from the band, a deep & groovy Rock Folk ballad with uplifiting fuzzy guitar riffs & catchy drums taken from the first album of the band, recorded in 1977 – Enjoy !

Afro National – Wondemuyei (Sierra Leone, 1975, Sonafric)

Following to that former post, I wanted to share with you for today “Wondemuyei“, a bouncy Afro Funk Soukous track sung in Mendé dialect, taken from the first album of the band Afro National from Sierra Leone, recorded in 1972 by and reissued in 1975 on the French record label Sonafric with that very beautiful alternate cover – Enjoy !

Following to that former post, I wanted to share with you the original version of the all-time classic “Écoute Moi Camarade“, an outstanding melancholic yéyé track with North African flavours & catchy trumpet & violin parts, originally recorded in 1974 by the legendary algerian singer Mohamed Mazouni, and covered in 2006 by the algerian singer Rachid Taha – Enjoy !
