Recorded in 1979 in one night after midnight at “Le 5-6“, a nightclub of Yaoundé (Cameroon), “Ye Mot Ai Kare Mot” is one of my favourite Cameroonian album, full of raw and intense energy, very danceable Bikutsi and Soukous tracks.

I’be just reissued it on my reissue record label “Nanga Boko Records” (a hand-written edition, limited to 300, that includes a poster and a download card), and I decided to share with you today the title track of the album, “Ye Mot Ai Kare Mot” – Enjoy !

Anne-Marie Nzie – Djih Yang (Cameroon, 1975, Pathe Marconi)

For today, I decided to present you “Djih Yang”, a very deep folk bikutsi track with jazz reminiscences taken from the first album from the great Anne-Marie Nzié, my favourite singer from Cameroon and considered by many (that includes me) as the Queen of the Bikutsi (a traditional Cameroonian musical genre).

She passed away last year in 2016, may she rest in peace..

Nkotti François and The Black Styl 77 – Loko La Mboa (France, 2017, Nanga Boko Records)

Liza Ngwa – Alima (Cameroun, 1980, Editions Drums)

Liza Ngwa was a folk singer and guitar player from Yaoundé (Cameroon), who released 2 albums in the 70’s.

She was also involved into different form of art (sculpture, dress-making, sport..) and cultural performances (theater performances, concerts..).

I decided to make you (re)discover “Alima”, a very unique folk song with psychedelic bikutsi and cadence reminiscences, taken from her second album recorded in 1980.

Liza Ngwa – Alima

Have a nice week,

Armand
